Docs score Tribeca funds

Seven projects to receive finishing finances

Seven documentary filmmakers have scored coin from the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund to provide the finishing finances for their respective projects.

A total of $100,000 will be disbursed to the recipients, in awards administered by the Tribeca Film Institute. Jury-selected projects take on global social issues.

Four of the seven films focus on Africa, including Rachel Boynton’s “African Deep,” about the search for oil off the coast of West Africa; “Moving Windmills: The William Kamkwamba Story,” Tom Reilly’s movie about a man who built a windmill to power his village; “The Warlord’s Wife,” Victoria Stevenson’s look at a British aid worker who eventually married a Sudanese warlord; and “The Redemption of General Butt Naked,” Daniele Anastasion and Eric Straus’ chronicle of a warlord-turned-evangelist.
