Denis Leary in talks for ‘Spider-Man’

Actor to play Emma Stone's father in Sony reboot

Denis Leary is in negotiations to join the cast of Sony’s untitled “Spider-Man” movie.

Leary joins a cast that includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Rhys Ifans.

Plot will focus more on Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s teenage years where he first discovers his super-human powers.

Leary will play police captain George Stacy, the father of Stone’s Gwen Stacy, the love interest to Peter Parker/Spider-Man played by Garfield.

The pic is helmed by Marc Webb from a script by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and is set to go into production in December.

Leary continues to be seen on the FX skein “Rescue Me” which begins production on its final season sometime in 2011.

He is repped by WME.
