Darius Films’ Los Angeles preem of indie comedy “Defendor” embraced the ordinary of its super hero-themed movie with little “POW!” but much enthusiasm.
“It’s always nice to see a full house,” said producer Nicholas Tabarrok at the Landmark Theater on Monday. “My only disappointment is that you’re not a paying audience.”
Star Woody Harrelson was on hand to celebrate the event, joined by co-stars Sandra Oh, Kat Dennings and director Peter Stebbings.
Stebbings, who also scripted the film, described “Defendor” as an “homage that pays tribute to the super hero genre.”
“We didn’t try to make it funny, per se, but we were hoping you’d feel some ups and downs,” he added. “It’s a small movie, budget-wise, but there’s a good message at the heart of it.”
