Robert De Niro is in final talks to join the cast of Italian romancer “Manual of Love 3,” the latest installment of the franchise produced by Aurelio De Laurentiis.
De Niro, whose role will be partly spoken in Italian, will play a divorced American professor living in Rome in one the four “chapters” of “Manual of Love 3.” All three pics have been helmed by Giovanni Veronesi.
Cinecitta Studios has announced that “Manual of Love 3” will start shooting in Rome on Sept. 24.
The two previous “Manual of Love” pics opened in 2005 and 2007 and scored a combined $45 million at the Italian B.O.
It’s the first foreign-language production for De Niro since 1976, when he starred in Bernardo Bertolucci’s “1900.”
De Niro will be seen next in “Stone,” “Machete” and “Little Fockers.” He recently wrapped “The Dark Fields” and “Killer Elite.”
