Richard Friedenberg (“A River Runs Through It”) has been tapped to adapt Vietnam War indie drama “The Don Dawson Story.”

Laura Brownson of Dandelion Films is producing with Anthony Mastromauro of Identity Films. Stephanie Striegel of Identity is co-producing.

Story is triggered by the 1964 disappearance of U.S. Army pilot Daniel Dawson’s L-19 surveillance plane in the Vietnam jungles. Three weeks later, his younger brother Don, left his job, his family and friends, emptied his bank account and traveled to Vietnam to find his brother.

Don spent the next eight months in Vietnam, including four as a POW, but wasn’t able to locate his brother.
