Sony sets director for video game adaptation
Sony has tapped David O. Russell to write and direct “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” for Columbia Pictures.
Based on the bestselling PlayStation 3 vidgame and centered on treasure hunter Nathan Drake, “Uncharted” will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer penned the first draft.
“David is a tremendous choice to take on this film,” Col prexy Matt Tolmach said in a statement. “He’s equally adept at combining all the classic elements involved in this property: great character development, strong comedy and amazing action sequences.”
Released in 2007, the “Uncharted” vidgame sold 1 million copies during its first 10 weeks of release.
