Danny McBride is attached to star in Mandate Pictures’ action comedy “L.A.P.I.,” which will be helmed by Jody Hill.
Project marks the debut project being developed by Rough House Pictures, the newly minted Mandate-based shingle headed by Hill, McBride and David Gordon Green.
Based on a pitch from writers Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, story details are being kept under wraps apart from McBride taking on the role of a beaten-down, hardboiled P.I.
Green, Hill, McBride and Matt Reilly, Rough House head of production, are producing. Mandate prexy Nathan Kahane is exec producing.
McBride, whose credits include “Tropic Thunder” and “Pineapple Express,” most recently co-starred in “Up in the Air.”
Hill, who directed the Seth Rogen starrer “Observe and Report,” teamed with McBride on the HBO series “East Bound and Down.” Hill co-created and co-writes the series with McBride and Ben Best and also directs.
Diliberti and Sullivan, who had two scripts on the 2009 Black List, are writing a remake of “Brewster’s Millions,” which is set up at Warner Bros.
