Damon, MacFadyen going to ‘Zoo’

Crowe will direct 20th Century Fox pic

Matt Damon is set and Angus MacFadyen is in talks to co-star in helmer Cameron Crowe’s “We Bought a Zoo” for 20th Century Fox.

Damon has signed on for the lead role in the pic about a struggling single father who moves his family to an estate that turns out to be a zoo. MacFadyen is to play the zookeeper.

Aline Brosh McKenna penned the script, based on the 2008 memoir by Benjamin Mee who spent his savings to move his family to a zoo in the English countryside.

Julie Yorn and Ilona Herzberg will produce, with Marc R. Gordon co-producing.

“Zoo” is slated for a December 2012 release.
