Nominees include 'Avatar,' 'Nine,' 'Sherlock'

The Casting Society of America announced nominations for its 26th annual Artios Awards to be held in New York and Los Angeles simultaneously on Nov. 1.

Three noteworthy recipients will be awarded special honors for their achievements in casting. In Gotham, award-winning playwright Tony Kushner will receive the New York Apple award. On the West Coast, producer Marcy Carsey and casting director Ellen Chenoweth will take home the Career Achievement and Hoyt Bowers awards, respectively.

For the categories of Big Budget Feature in drama and comedy, nominations include casting for “Avatar,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Nine,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Shutter Island,” “Couples Retreat,” “Date Night,” “Julie & Julia,” “The Proposal,” and “Valentine’s Day.”
