CMJ unveils film lineup

Springsteen doc, 'Love and Other Drugs' to screen at fest

The College Music Journal has announced the film and panel lineup for its CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival, scheduled to take place Oct. 19-23 in New York.

Love and Other Drugs,” “The Promise: Darkness on the Edge of Town,” Andrew Zuckerman’s “Music,” “Gainsbourg and His Girls” and “Imogen Heap” are among the highlights of the music-skewing slate, which will screen at Clearview Cinemas and other venues. Panels on music supervision, film scoring and indie financing are also scheduled.

The festival, increasingly considered something of an East Coast counterpart to Austin, Texas, SXSW, will concurrently host a flurry of showcases from hundreds of up-and-coming and unsigned bands across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Such buzzed-about new acts as Surfer Blood, Kisses, the Corin Tucker Band, Freddie Gibbs, Casxio and Neon Indian are scheduled to appear.
