Last year, Stockhom-based auction house Bukowskis sold most of late filmmaker Ingmar Bergman’s belongings. This year the auction house will sell off part of the estate of Bergman’s longtime cinematographer, Sven Nykvist, who died in 2006, but the proceeds will go to the establishment of the Sven Nykvist Cinematography Institute.

“It will be based on Faro, the island where Bergman lived and where so many of his films were shot,” said Nykvist’s son, helmer Carl-Gustaf Nykvist.

Among the things to be sold at the Aug. 31 auction are Nykvist´s first camera, clapper boards from some of his interntional productions, several viewfinders, stills from film sets and the camera with which he shot Bergman’s “Sawdust and Tinsel.”
