Casting ‘Castro’s Daughter’

Vega to star in title role; Bruhl, Maestro also onboard

Paz Vega, Daniel Bruhl and Mia Maestro have signed to star in indie drama “Castro’s Daughter,” with shooting expected in Puerto Rico in late spring.

Bobby Moresco, who co-wrote “Crash” with Paul Haggis, is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nilo Cruz (“Anna in the Tropics”).

John Torres Martinez is packaging the production with WME. Exec producer Joe Lamy is also heading structuring on the film’s financing and fund-raising; Noel Tristan is also a producer.

Vega (“Sex and Lucia”) is in talks to star as Fidel Castro’s exiled daughter, Alina Fernandez. Bruhl recently starred in “Inglourious Basterds.”
