Carliner to top Prospect Park’s film unit

Producer to launch film division for production house

Encouraged by the success it’s had on TV, Prospect Park, the production shingle launched last year by Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank, has tapped producer Rob Carliner to launch a film division.

Carliner, who produced “Crazy Heart” and “The Apostle” and started his producing career at Robert Duvall’s Butcher’s Run Films, will oversee the development of Prospect Park’s film slate, as well as certain TV projects with Paul Frank, who runs the company’s TV group.

He reports to Kwatinetz.

Prospect Park most recently landed a second season for its series “Royal Pains” on cabler USA Network. It’s also in the midst of producing the TV pilot “Wilfred,” starring Elijah Wood, for FX, and is developing several other series for TNT, HBO and Starz.

“We felt the time was right to bring in a seasoned film executive, and in Rob we found an executive who has that elusive combination of experience, great relationships in the community and, frankly, exquisite taste,” Kwatinetz said.

Carliner’s other film credits include “Assassination Tango,” which Robert Duvall wrote, directed and starred in. He also produced Sony Classics’ upcoming “Get Low,” starring Duvall, Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek. His TV work has included producing AMC’s miniseries “Broken Trail.”
