CANNES: Directors’ Fortnight Luncheon

Fortnight_boffo The directors of the world’s top film festivals, from Toronto to Shanghai and all points in between, may compete fiercely all year for titles and talents, but in Cannes they sit down for a civil, even jovial lunch at the Audi Beach eatery.

That is due to the largesse and fine French manners of the Directors’ Fortnight’s new topper, Frederic Boyer, center, who hosted the soiree Thursday, the day his prestigious fest section bowed in Cannes with choppy seas and high hopes.

With Boyer are John Cooper, left, of the Sundance Film Festival and Ilda Santiago of the Rio Film Festival.
