Canadian patriotism was in high order Thursday at the Consul General of Canada’s L.A. screening of Sony Pictures Classics’ “Barney’s Version.”
Most of the pic’s cast and crew hail from way up north, including director Richard J. Lewis and screenwriter Michael Konyves, both of whom were in attendance to tubtump the pic, based on Canadian author Mordecai Richler’s tome.
However, star Paul Giamatti, a Connecticut native, expressed his original concerns about acting in the mostly foreign film.
“That’s what made me nervous about joining this movie,” Giamatti joked. “I’m the non-Canadian.” – — Andrew Stewart
