Burr Steers to steer ‘Emperor’

'Young Caesar' based on first of series of novels

Burr Steers has signed on to direct “Emperor: Young Caesar,” a pic adaptation of the first volume of the “Emperor” novels by Conn Iggulden.

Nigel Sinclair, co-chair and CEO of Exclusive Media Group, will produce with Guy East, along with Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari and Atmosphere Entertainment’s Mark Canton — who were producers of “300” — and William Broyles Jr.

Broyles, whose screenplay credits include “Jarhead,” “Cast Away” and “Apollo 13,” will pen the script with Stephen Harrigan. Storyline, based on Iggulden’s book “Emperor: The Gates of Rome,” follows the early life of Julius Caesar and Marcus Brutus.

Steers’ directing credits include “Igby Goes Down,” “17 Again” and the upcoming “Charlie St. Cloud.”

On the horizon from Exclusive are pics including “Let Me In,” “The Resident” and “The Way Back,” all three of which are in post-production.
