Warner Bros. has tapped Bill Birch to pen Mandeville Films’ action-comedy “Collared.”
Story’s centered on a mysterious group of prisoners held captive in Southern Nevada in the secretive military base Area 51. Mandeville partner David Hoberman originated the idea.
Hoberman and partner Todd Lieberman will produce, with David Manpearl exec producing.
“Collared” is the fourth writing deal for Birch at Warners, where he’s worked on “Weekend Warrior,” “One Finger Salute” and “Shazam!” Jon Berg’s overseeing for the studio.
Mandeville’s teamed with Relativity Media on Paramount’s upcoming “The Fighter,” starring Mark Wahlberg, and is producing the next Muppet feature film for Disney, written by and starring Jason Segel.
Birch is repped by ICM and Anonymous Content.
