Duo to bring Paterson novel the bigscreen
Newly minted production banner Bedrock Studios and Arcady Bay Entertainment are teaming on a feature version of “The Flint Heart,” Katherine Paterson’s fantasy novel.
Arcady Bay principal David Paterson will adapt his mother’s tome as a live-action pic that will be special effects driven.
Story centers on a magical amulet that brings power and despair to those who touch it while taking place during a time stretching from the Stone Age to modern day England.
Paterson collaborated on the novel with her husband, John Paterson, Sr. The book is scheduled for a release from children’s publisher Candlewick Press early next year.
David Paterson adapted his mother’s “Bridge to Terabithia” for Disney and Walden Media with that pic topping $200 million in worldwide grosses. Bedrock topper Cary Granat was CEO of Walden at the time.
“Reuniting with Katherine and Arcady Bay Entertainment is something we’ve been looking forward to for quite some time,” Granat said in a statement Tuesday.
Bedrock was launched earlier this year by combining Granat Entertainment with Reel FX, headed by former Industrial Light and Magic CEO Ed Jones.
