BBC Films is reteaming with “In the Loop” director Armando Iannucci for his next project, “Out the Window.”
The $20 million comedy, skedded for a 2011 release is being penned by Iannucci with Will Smith (who writes the hit Brit TV sitcom “The Thick of It,” which Iannucci also directs) and Roger Drew. Pic is in the process of being financed and is the second in a slate BBC Films is forging with the director.
The shingle also announced new project “Three Sixty,” penned by “The Damned United” scribe Peter Morgan and produced by David Linde. The story, which riffs on the Arthur Schnitzler play “La Ronde,” is multi-stranded tale of love and obsession.
An adaptation of Claire Tomalin’s bio tome “The Invisible Woman,” based on the hidden life of Charles Dickens, also joins the company’s slate. Script is penned by Abi Morgan, who also adapted Monica Ali’s “Brick Lane” in 2007. It recounts the tragic story of the Victorian author’s affair with actress Nelly Ternan. Pic is produced by Stewart Mackinnon at Headline Pictures.
