As is tradition for the event, celebrities told behind-the-scenes tales of stage and screen.

Both French Stewart and Beau Bridges spoke of their misfortunes with monkeys and canines, respectively, while Rita Wilson spilled a casting couch tale of a snake — when, early in her career, a producer wanted to know if she was a virgin.

Alan Cumming and violinist Sarah Chang provided the musical entertainment. Cumming, recently hired as a regular on CBS’ “The Good Wife,” sang of his favorite barista, Taylor, the latte boy: “Bring me java, bring me joy.”

More than $500,000 was raised for the Geffen’s education and outreach programs. Kristin Chenoweth and Warner Bros. chairman-CEO Barry Meyer were the night’s honorees.
