Australian tyke cast in ‘Judy Moody’

12-year old Beatty appeared in 'Superman Returns'

Twelve-year-old Australian actress Jordana Beatty has snagged the title role in family pic “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer,” based on the popular children’s book series.

John Schultz (“Aliens in the Attic”) is set to begin directing in late August from an adapted script by Kathy Waugh and Megan McDonald, author of the books.

There are eight titles in the Judy Moody series, which revolve around the humorous adventures of an exuberant third-grade girl and her brother.

Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness (“Precious”) are producing “Judy Moody” through their Smokewood Entertainment. Bobbie Sue Luther and Andrew Sugerman will exec produce.

“Jordana is a talented young actress whose natural enthusiasm, humor and charistmatic charm make her the perfect Judy Moody,” Siegel-Magness said.

She was cast as Eloise in “Eloise in Paris” in 2008 but the project broke down over litigation with Uma Thurman, who was set to play Nanny.

Beatty’s credits include “Superman Returns” and the television series “Legend of the Seeker.”

She’s repped by CAA and Thruline.
