Audio Society honors Wexler

Sound mixer to receive Career Achievement Award

Cinema Audio Society will fete production sound mixer Jeffrey S. Wexler with its Career Achievement Award on Feb. 19, 2011.

Wexler, who won a BAFTA award for his work on “Almost Famous,” helped usher in a new era of sound recording through his pioneering use of Deva I and digital audio tape technology. “We are honoring Jeff because his dedication to the advancement of sound is what the Cinema Audio Society stands for,” said CAS prexy Edward Moskowitz.

Previous winners of CAS’ highest honor include Ray Dolby, Robert Altman, Mike Minkler and Randy Thom.

Submission forms for the 47th annual awards ceremony, held in Los Angeles, are due by Nov. 26. Nominees are announced on Jan. 6 with final voting ending Feb. 12.
