AMPAS adds to library

Herrick picks up Pakula, Brooks, Pollack papers

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Margaret Herrick Library has acquired 12 collections, including the papers of Alan J. Pakula, James L. Brooks and Sydney Pollack.

The collections were unveiled Wednesday at the library, which houses more than 10 million photographs, 300,000 clipping files, 80,000 screenplays, 35,000 movie posters, 32,000 books and more than 1,000 special collections representing movie legends.

Other acquisitions include the papers of “Citizen Kane” scribe Joseph Mankiewicz, Gene Allen, Jane Powell and Edward Pressman as well as the Art Directors Guild collection, the Richard Koszarski Polish poster collection, Norma Talmadge photos and the Albert Wolsky and May Routh costume design drawings.
