Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” cast was out in force Thursday alongside helmer Tim Burton despite London’s torrential rain. Burton, accompanied by Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway and newcomer Mia Wasikowska, who plays the title role, treaded the croquet lawn up to Leicester Square’s Odeon for the royal world premiere, in aid of the Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts. The attendance of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall provided an apt majestic fanfare to Burton’s adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s much-loved “Alice” novels.
Depp, speaking of his working relationship with Burton after sixth collaborations, said, “There’s something that works when we hit the trenches together; it hasn’t changed in all these years. Every time I get the phone call from Tim, I’m overjoyed.”
