Actresses circle ‘Faster’

Maggie Grace joins Dwayne Johnson starrer; Salma Hayek in talks

Casting on the Dwayne Johnson starrer “Faster” is picking up speed. Maggie Grace has signed on and Salma Hayek is in negotiations to co-star in the CBS Films action drama.

Billy Bob Thornton has already boarded the George Tillman-directed pic, which will begin production next month in Los Angeles.

Pic is a co-production of CBS Films and Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group.

Story centers on an ex-con (Johnson) looking to avenge his brother’s murder, who is trailed by a veteran policeman.

Joe and Tony Gayton penned the screenplay, while Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer are producing alongside Tony Gayton and Robert Teitel. Joe Gayton is exec producing.

Grace, who is on Variety’s current 10 to Watch list, most recently starred opposite Liam Neeson in “Taken” and is onboard for a sequel. She has a number of films in the can including the Tom Cruise starrer “Knight and Day.”

She is repped by ICM and 1 Management.

Hayek starred in last year’s “Cirque du Freak” for Universal. She is set to voice the role of Kitty in DreamWorks Animation’s “Puss in Boots.”

Hayek is handled by CAA and Management 360.
