Academy teams with Campus MovieFest

Duo announce short film competition

Campus MovieFest and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Monday the launch of “For the Love of Movies” short film competition.

Open to college students, the contest seeks entries from aspiring filmmakers about their love of the silver screen and their movie-going experiences. A panel of industry leaders, including representatives of the Academy, will choose the winning submissions. Selected participants will receive first-hand experience with the 2011 Oscars, including access to the 2011 Oscar red carpet and exposure on Oscars.org.

Ten-year-old Campus MovieFest provides college students with free instruction and equipment to create short films. More than $2 million has been awarded over the years along with screenings at Cannes and Paramount Studios. Submissions will be accepted beginning in August.
