Gary Oldman, Malin Akerman and Milo Ventimiglia will star in indie gangster project “Criminal Empire for Dummies.”
Michael Clarke Duncan is also attached along with Polish thesps Borys Szyc, Danuta Stenka and Weronika Rosati.
Cliff Dorfman, whose credits include the upcoming “Warrior” for Lionsgate and “Entourage,” is making his feature directorial debut from his own script.
Story centers on a charismatic young man (Ventimiglia) who relates the rules of running a criminal empire through flashbacks to his own rise from a tragic childhood and the ghetto to multinational kingpin.
Pic is set to start shoot starting this month in New Orleans.
Producers are Michael Roban of Cold Fusion Media, Dave Brown of Sleeping Giant Entertainment, Greg Hadjarowicz of Gremi Prods. and Paul Schiff of Paul Schiff Prods. Oldman’s manager Doug Urbanski is exec producing.
Production companies are Cold Fusion, Gremi and Paul Schiff Prods. Financing for the $10.8 million project comes from Gremi, the Polish Film Institute, Alvernia Studios and Hollywood Studios Intl.
Oldman was most recently in “The Book of Eli” while Akerman’s credits include “Watchmen.”
