Greene, Lutz among those returning for 'Twilight' sequel
Seven “Twilight” thesps — including Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed — have closed deals to return for the fourth “Twilight” pic, “Breaking Dawn.”
Summit Entertainment announced Wednesday that it had also signed Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser and Billy Burke to reprise their roles in “Breaking Dawn,” set to open Nov. 18, 2011.
Negotiations for several of the supporting characters have been going on for the past week.
Burke plays Charlie Swan in the pics while the other thesps portray vampires.
Facinelli plays Carlisle Cullen with Reaser as his wife Esme. Greene plays Alice Cullen, Lutz is Emmett Cullen; Rathbone portrays Jasper Hale, while Reed plays his adopted sister Rosalie, who’s married to Lutz’s character.
Summit closed its deal three weeks ago with helmer Bill Condon to direct “Breaking Dawn” — the final tome in author Stephenie Meyer’s four-book vampire series.
Summit has not yet announced if “Breaking Dawn,” the last chapter in the love story of bloodsucker Edward and mortal Bella, will be broken into two films, although it’s widely expected to do so.
Catherine Hardwicke helmed the first pic while Chris Weitz directed the second, “New Moon.” David Slade was behind the camera for the third, “Eclipse,” which opens June 30.
Scribe Melissa Rosenberg has adapted each installment and is currently working on the fourth.
As previously announced, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are returning for “Breaking Dawn,” and Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Meyer are producing.
The first two “Twilight” pics have grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide.
