SF Festival to fete Ebert

Veteran film critic to receive Mel Novikoff Award

Longtime film journalist Roger Ebert will receive the Mel Novikoff Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival (April 22-May 6).

The honor, which is given to an individual who has helped enhance the public’s understanding of cinema, will be awarded during An Evening with Roger Ebert and Friends at 5:30 p.m. May 1 at the Castro Theatre.

Ebert is best known for his work as the Chicago Sun-Times film critic. He has written numerous books and film critiques and was the first film writer to receive a Pulitzer Prize for criticism.

Tickets for the event are $12 for San Francisco Film Society members and $15 for general admission. For more information visit http://www.sffs.org.
