Scribe jumps into Parkour

New Line taps Matt Johnson to pen untitled drama

New Line’s tapped Matt Johnson (“Into the Blue”) to pen its untitled drama about Parkour — the free-jumping extreme sport in which practitioners run and jump from rooftops.

Studio’s been developing the project since 2007 when it bought a pitch preemptively from Kevin Lund and T.J. Scott around a pair of jumpers who use their skills in heists. Channing Tatum was attached to star at that point but is no longer involved.

The film will be produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey via their Temple Hill banner. Richie Smyth, a musicvideo helmer and an avid extreme sports practitioner, remains attached to direct.

Walter Hamada is overseeing for New Line.
