Festival names artistic director
SYDNEY — The Melbourne Film Festival appointed Michelle Carey artistic director on Monday.
Carey, who has worked at the fest for four years in various roles, including programming topper, will begin work Sept. 1.
Before joining MFF, Carey was a programmer for the Adelaide Film Festival and is a scout for local cinema for the Rotterdam Film Festival.
“I enthusiastically take on the task of overseeing the artistic vision of the festival, especially as it will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year,” Carey said.
