Magnolia Pictures has picked up U.S. rights to Neil Jordan’s romantic fantasy “Ondine,” starring Colin Farrell.
Jordan also penned the script, and produced alongside Wayfare Entertainment’s Ben Browning and James Flynn.
Stephen Rea and Alicja Bachleda co-star in the Irish set film.
“Ondine” bowed at the Toronto film festival in September to somewhat muted reactions. Film has been significantly edited since the fest, downplaying grittiness and sex, to capture a PG-13 rating.
Release is set for early summer through Magnolia’s Ultra VOD program, bowing on-demand a month before its theatrical rollout.
Magnolia SVP Tom Quinn and VP of acquisitions Dori Begley negotiated the deal with CAA and Wayfare.
