Kino jumps for ‘Joy’

Pic joins three sisters at New York Film Fest

Kino Intl. has picked up Russian pic “My Joy,” the fourth film acquired by Kino to have a slot in the 2010 New York Film Festival.

Sergei Loznitsa’s drama, which jumps between contempo Russia and WWII flashbacks, follows a trucker, played by Viktor Nemets, and the encounters he has during his travels across the nation.

Film preemed at Cannes this year and also has played Telluride and Toronto prior to its NYFF screening Sept. 30.

Acquisition was negotiated by Kino’s Donald Krim and Fortissimo’s Winnie Lau.

Kino also will release NYFF films “Poetry,” “Le Quattro Volte” and “Tuesday, After Christmas.”
