Five countries will be repped at the Indian Film Festival Los Angeles, running April 20-25, with 33 films including the world preem of docu “Woman Rebel” from Kiran Deol.
Features include India’s entry for the foreign lingo Oscar “Harischandrachi Factory” and “Vihir,” as well as docs “At My Doorstep,” “Nero’s Guests” and “Babies Made in India.”
The popular Bollywood by Night section returns with “Kaminey,” “3 Idiots” and the 20th anni edition of “Raakh Redux.”
Fest will also feature films that preemed at other events such as Dev Benegal’s “Road, Movie” and Laxmikant Shetgaonkar’s “The Man Beyond the Bridge.”
“Cooking With Stella,” produced by Deepa Mehta and helmed by her brother Dilip, kicks off the fest April 20. Closing pic is Aussie title “The Waiting City,” directed by Claire McCarthy and starring Radha Mitchell, Joel Edgerton and Samrat Chakrabarti.
The eighth edition of the fest will unspool at the ArcLight Hollywood.
Kranti Kanade, winner of the IFFLA Film Fund’s development grant, will stage a reading of his script at 11 a.m. April 25.
