Newly minted Inception Media Group has bought U.S. rights to action thriller “2:22,” co-starring Val Kilmer, as its first feature acquisition.
The film will begin an exclusive theatrical engagement in Los Angeles beginning June 18 with a DVD and Blu-ray launch in the fall.
Homevid vets David Borshell and Andy Reimer launched Inception last October to acquire, produce and distribute features for theatrical, digital, homevid and TV.
The film was directed by Phillip Guzman, produced by Lenny Bitondo and co-written by Guzman and Mick Rossi. The film stars Rossi and features Kilmer, Robert Miano, Aaron Gallagher, Jorge A. Jimenez and Peter Dobson.
“2:22,” a heist story about a robbery gone bad, made its European debut at Cannes last year. It won the best picture award at the 2009 Malibu Film Festival.
