Hughes brothers, by the ‘Book’

Their pic 'Eli' premieres at the Chinese Theater

Nine years after directing their last feature, one of the Hughes brothers was in a particularly expansive mood at Monday’s preem of Warners’ “The Book of Eli” at Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

“It’s magical for us, partly because the Chinese is my favorite theater in all the world,” mused Allen Hughes at the post-preem bash at the Hollywood Roosevelt, where several of the pic’s cobbled-together vehicles were on display. “It’s where we saw the films like ‘Star Wars’ that made us get into the business. We invited all our friends — everyone from winos to CEOs.”

Attendees included studio execs Alan Horn, Jeff Robinov and Dan Fellman; cast members Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis and Jennifer Beals; and Magic Johnson, Taraji P. Henson, Jesse Metcalfe, Rosario Dawson and Ice Cube.
