‘Girl’ gets more pickups

Zodiak bumps pic sales up to 50 countries

Zodiak Entertainment Distribution has closed more territories on “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” the first film in the “Millennium” trilogy.

Edko Films in Hong Kong, Encore Films in Singapore, Filmware in Taiwan, Conquest Films in Brazil, Independenta Films in Romania, AS Tallinnfilm in Estonia and Ablo in East Europe have all acquired the pic, which has grossed more than $80 million in Europe and the rest of the world.

Pic, which is being remade in the U.S. by Scott Rudin, has now sold to more than 50 countries.

The “Millennium” trilogy is produced by Swedish shingle Yellow Bird, owned by Zodiak Entertainment, which acquired the rights to adapt author Stieg Larsson book trilogy before it was published. Worldwide sales are being handled by Zodiak.
