Freestyle hits ‘Wild Target’

Film unit acquires rights to indie drama

Freestyle Releasing has acquired U.S. rights to indie drama “Wild Target,” starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Martin Freeman and Rupert Everett.

Freestyle has set an Oct. 8 theatrical release and noted that “Target” marks the beginning of Freestyle’s new strategic initiative to diversify into a full-fledged acquisition and distribution company.

“Target” centers on a middle-aged, solitary assassin, who prides himself on his own peerless reputation for lethal efficiency but finds his professional routine is interrupted by being drawn to one of his intended victims.

The film is directed by Jonathan Lynn (“The Whole Nine Yards”) and produced by Martin Pope and Michael Rose. It’s a CinemaNX and Isle of Man Film Presentation, in association with Entertainment Film Distributors, of a Magic Light Pictures production with Matador Pictures and Cinema Four in association with Regent Capital.
