Pic is directed by Handfield, stars Presley
Emmett/Furla Films and Freedom Films are teaming to produce football drama “Touchback,” starring Brian Presley and directed by Don Handfield.
The banners are uniting for a three-picture deal with financing from Palo Verde, a hedge fund founded in 2008 by Paul Ross & Tony Stacy with Presley starring in all three pics.
“Touchback,” also penned by Handfield, centers on a high school football star’s regrets and realizations 15 years after his career-ending injury in a big game. Presley’s producing with Lisa Kearns, Shannon Gardner, Derek Beumer, Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel-Matusow of Freedom Films and George Furla and Randall Emmett of Emmett/Furla Films. Rob Cowan, Adam Griffin and Ryan Bundra exec produce.
Also on the film slate are two high-profile multi-picture franchise projects, which are being held under wraps at this time and will star Presley as well.
Emmett/Furla and Freedom have collaborated on Irwin Winkler’s “Home of the Brave” for MGM, Lionsgate’s “Borderland” with Sean Astin and “Once Fallen,” starring Presley, Taraji P. Henson, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan.
