DeWitt joins ‘Earthbound’ cast

Actress set for Film Department's romancer

Rosemarie DeWitt (“Rachel Getting Married”) has joined the Film Department’s romancer “Earthbound,” starring Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Pic, about a terminally ill woman who falls for her doctor, is set to go into production later this month in Louisiana. Nicole Kassell (“The Woodsman”) is directing from Gren Wells’ script.

Producers are John Davis, Mark Gill, Robert Katz and Adam Schroeder; Neil Sacker and Michael Goguen exec produce.

DeWitt will portray the best friend and confidante of Hudson’s character. She stars in the Showtime series “United States of Tara” and will be seen in “Company Men” at Sundance opposite Ben Affleck.

The Film Department announced plans last month to jump into the domestic distribution biz through a public stock offering that could raise more than $100 million.
