Bowers in talks for ‘Wimpy’ sequel

Director eyes Fox's 'Diary'

David Bowers is in final talks to direct Fox 2000’s “Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules.”

Nina Jacobson’s Color Force and Brad Simpson’s Apparatus are producing.

Plans are for the sequel to begin lensing as soon as possible, since “Rodrick Rules” is set to bow in theaters March 25, 2011.

Bowers is no stranger to family fare. Previous credits include “Flushed Away” and “Astro Boy.”

Fox is keen on the “Wimpy Kid” property, based on the best-selling selling book series. First film, debuting in March, grossed $63.6 million domestically. That pic was helmed by Thor Freudenthal.

Bowers is repped by ICM.
