'Millennium' TV mini draws big French, Swedish auds

On March 22, the “Millennium” TV series, based on Stieg Larssons best-selling trilogy of novels and produced by Yellow Bird, aired on French paybox Canal Plus with a record 17.8% share among cable, satellite and DTT auds.

The first two episodes of the eight-part skein attracted 1.16 million viewers on Canal Plus, the cabler’s best audience for a foreign fiction drama this year. Two days earlier, it aired on Sweden’s SVT with a a whopping 42% market share. “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” the first of three theatrical features based on the Larsson novels, has grossed more than $100 million in Europe.
