Disney’s launching development of an untitled comedy-drama with Bradley Cooper attached to star as an injured baseball player on the mend.
The project, based on a pitch by Allen Loeb, has been set up with Andrew Panay through his Disney-based banner along with Loeb and producing partner Steven Pearl via their Scarlett Fire banner.
Story contains similar themes as “Scent of a Woman” and “The Rookie,” a 2002 Disney baseball drama starring Dennis Quaid as real-life major leaguer Jim Morris.
Panay and development executive Adam Blum came up with the story idea and took it to Loeb, whose credits include the upcoming “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” Sony’s “The Switch” and Universal’s “Cheaters.”
Cooper is on screen in “The A-Team” and will be seen next in “The Hangover 2.”
