The Belfast Film Festival will include workshops and seminars for the local filmmaking community for the first time this year.
“The industry here has seen big leaps of growth in the past five years, so we have organized a two-day block of events focusing on the business of film. I hope it will become a regular thing,” says fest director Michele Devlin.
Run jointly with Northern Ireland Screen, there will be four seminars under the title “Northern Exposure, Deal Closure.” These will deal with the market for independent film, how to raise finance, working with agents and making shorts.
Panelists will include screenwriter Tony Grisoni, producer Robin Gutch of Warp X, sales agents Hilary Davis of Bankside and Mike Runagall of Pathe, distributors Julia Short of Verve Pictures, John Fletcher of Pathe U.K. and Stephen Murphy of Optimum, and agent Nick Marston of Curtis Brown.
