Disney’s Miley Cyrus topliner “The Last Song” sang its way to the top of the domestic B.O. on Wednesday, grossing $5.1 million as it opened in 2,673 locations.
Pic played heavily to young femmes between the ages of 9 and 18.
“Last Song” is based on Nicholas Spark’s tome of the same name. Spark penned the adapated screenplay with Jeff Van Wie.
Storyline revolves around a rebellious teenager who is sent to live with her estranged father in a beach town. Pic also stars Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston.
Disney opened “Last Song” midweek to take advantage of kids being out of school for spring break.
