ShoWest honors William J. Stembler

Georgia Theater Co. chair-CEO will be feted at confab

Georgia Theater Co. chair-CEO William J. Stembler will receive the ShoWester of the Year Award at upcoming exhibitor confab ShoWest.

Held in Las Vegas, ShoWest runs March 15-18.

Since 1973, Bill Stembler’s dedication to the motion picture industry and passion for the silver screen has been unparalleled,” Sho-West managing director Robert Sunshine said.

Stembler joined Georgia Theater Co. in 1973 as house counsel and VP. He was named prexy in 1983. After sale of the company to United Artists in 1986, Stembler became veep of UA until 1988. He worked for other exhibs until 1991, when Georgia Theater Co. was reincarnated.

Today, Georgia is one of the top 20 circuits in the U.S., operating 272 screens in 27 locations.
