ShoWest honors Todd Phillips

Filmmaker to receive director of the year award

Todd Phillips has been named 2010 ShoWest director of the year. Filmmaker will receive the award at the upcoming ShoWest confab in Las Vegas.

Phillips made box office history last year with “The Hangover.” The Warner Bros. buddy pic became the top-grossing R-rated film of all time at the worldwide box office with a cume of $467.3 million.

Phillips is next in theaters with laffer “Due Date,” which Warners releases Nov. 5. Comedy stars Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx and Alan Arkin.

Story revolves around a man who goes on an unexpected road trip with a total stranger in an effort to make it home before his wife gives birth.

ShoWest, the annual gathering of theater owners, runs March 15-18.
