The Zurich Film Festival gave its top kudo, the Golden Eye for international film, to Serbian pic “The Woman with a Broken Nose” on Saturday.
Srdjan Koljevic’s film is a quirky relationship comedy that follows several characters as they struggle with grief. Frank Langella, prexy of the jury, presented the award.
The docu jury gave their award to the Danish film “Armadillo.” Janus Metz’s pic portrays the grim realities of life for Danish soldiers serving a six-month tour in Afghanistan.
Special mention went to Lixin Fan’s China-set pic “Last Train Home.”
The German-lingo feature prize went to Florian Cossen’s debut “Das Lied in mir.”
Variety’s New Talent Award went to “Adem” (Oxygen) by the Belgian helmer Hans van Nuffel.
Mike Schaerer’s debut pic “Stationspiraten,” from Switzerland, took the audience award.
The Swiss critics’ award for international pic went to the Hungarian film “Pal Adrienn,” helmed by Agnes Kocsis.
The ceremony was attended by Oliver Stone, Bob Geldof and Milos Forman, who was presented with the fest’s career tribute award by Courtney Love.
