'Cove' takes documentary award

Jonas Rivera, producer of “Up,” has won the Producers Guild of America award for animation.

“Up” topped “9,” “Coraline,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” and “The Princess and the Frog.”

Rivera dedicated the award to his grandfather and said, “We made this film for our grandfathers.

It was the first kudo presented at the PGA awards at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday night.

Jeff Fager of “60 Minutes” repeated as winner in non-fiction TV. “The Colbert Report” also repeated in the live entertainment-competition category.

“The Cove” won the documentary award for producers Fisher Stevens and Paula DuPre Presman over “Burma VJ,” “Sergio” and “Soundtrack for a Revolution.”

Fisher urged the audience to work in documentaries. “You won’t get rich but you’ll get rich in other ways,” he added.
