Innovators: Freeman and McCreary

Hollywood Award honorees

Morgan Freeman and his Revelations Entertainment partner Lori McCreary think they make a pretty good pair.

“I have the technological background and Morgan has a world view where he doesn’t just accept the status quo,” says McCreary.

Their test to compare using digital cameras versus traditional film on a “Desperate Housewives” episode has prompted presentations at the Producers Guild Conference at the Motion Picture Academy, as well as at confabs in India, Las Vegas and Amsterdam.

It has, said McCreary, become “an ongoing series that we’ll produce with the Motion Picture Academy and the cinematographers union.”

Revelations has also “been pushing hard for a digital pipeline for filmmaking to drastically reduce the pirating of films,” Freeman points out.

The next step?

“To make sure our production pipeline is closed,” notes McCreary. “We’re trying to set up standards to digitize the pipeline in a protective way.”
